Is gaming unsociable?
There’s been a very interesting article posted over at Down Left Punch about the socialism of gaming in general. This is a subject that I feel strongly on and I for one have made great friends on the “internets” and made better real life friends through playing (owning, duh) them online.
The article talks about how it’s usually the people that make these accusations that do not enjoy these games..
Most of those who do not enjoy or play games have the idea in their head that all gamers are simply non social, basement dwelling creature who prefer nothing but an extreme lack of sunlight.
Which of course, we all know isn’t true - it’s the bedroom, not the basement..
I agree with this article whole-heartedly to be honest, they emphasize the fact that in face by playing online games you ARE being sociable as you are playing with other human beings and I think it’s great to be honest, it’s no different to going to play football (soccer) or football (football) or any other sporting activity, except its more friendly to anyone thats either weight or physically challenged. I can vouch for the physically challenged, the friends I’ve made online have at times kept me smiling and the fact that there is always the fun in blowing someones head off at your finger tips if you’re feeling down is great!
More and more people are coming to online gaming with a lesser need for a high end PC’s to run most games and I think gaming is becoming more socially acceptable over all. There will always be a stereotype that gamers have, like any other “label”.
