Hitman turns into an evilhunting Rambo in new Movie
Gamestar spoke to Timothy Olyphant and director Xavier Gens about their big screen adaptation of the popular video game Hitman.
I like Timothy as an actor. but I think Jason Statham would suit better for agent 47 (I said that before there were even plans to shoot this film :p) Olyphant looks a bit like a dude with cancer when he’s bald :p I still think it’s going to be an good movie..
Yes, Rest in Peace, he is an Assassin! Ultimate” fan? That’s a bold statement to make while supporting a movie that makes 47 look like Rambo. What the hell? They just turned Agent 47 into a comic hero. Strike down evil? He strikes down anyone with a dollar sign above his head!
If you haven’t seen it yet, the trailer for the “Hitman” movie, which has sparked a lot interest among gamers who yearn for good video game-inspired films.
I am not such a huge fan of games turning into movies, even if I really Liked Silent Hill and doom. And watching this trailer from Hitman the Movie makes me wonder why people can’t just let the games rest in peace and not turn them in to bloody movies…Its bad enough that we turn every movie into another poor game. Actually I am also not really found of Timothy Olyphant into role of Agent 47. Somehow I don’t like the fact that they turned Agent 47 into a comic hero.
They say Agent 47 strikes down evil, nut that’s not really true is it? I mean from what I know Agent strikes down anyone and anything with a dollar sign above hit’s head!
Anyway Gamestar spoke to Timothy Olyphant and director Xavier Gens about their big screen adaptation of the popular video game “Hitman.”:
“
“When I read the script I didn’t immediately think of a game. It reminded me more of the John Woo films, or of Luc Besson’s “The Professional” or the Korean “Bittersweet Life,” said Olyphant.
Inspired by Asian action movies, Gens added that violence will be the main focus of the movie.
“I gave the Hitman a dirty image. In the game, Hitman is an asshole, I wanted to keep that in the movie. It’s about an evil man fighting against other evil men,” Gens said. “I wanted really true and dirty violence - from splashing blood to broken arms.” “
Anyone else think that’s its sad that they made Agent 47 look like Rambo. …
Very well, at least we don’t have Uwe Ball making the movie …so there must be a God somewhere …

Fortunately for the moviegoing public, Uwe Boll is too busy shooting the film adaptation of Postal to take the time to desecrate Hitman.
I agree that Jason Statham would have been a better fit for the role of Agent 47, especially since Xavier Gens said he was inspired by martial arts movies and Statham has a talent for fast martial arts action.
And of course he has the right look.
I disagree with Gens that Agent 47 is a complete asshole in the game. In Hitman 2, you get to see a hint of a conscience when 47 shows concern for the priest who provided him with a sanctuary and then was kidnapped.
He went to the old man’s rescue, which hints that he has a soul, however black it may be.
I don’t think 47 should be portrayed as a hero. He’s a killer for hire, and he’s great at what he does.
But even though he kills for money, he’s still likeable. So why mess with the dark humor and the complex character by making him into John McClane from Die Hard?
We already have plenty of those boy scout types. Keeping Hitman a dark character with a questionable code of ethics would have been more interesting.
Unfortunately, now that the mainsteam entertainment media has realized that there’s real money to be made from video games, we’ll probably be subjected to a lot more hastily slapped together games based on movies and subpar movies based on games.
