Halo 3’s release date causeing a delay in most games?
Halo 3 is comeing. September 25th gamers will come full circle, and play the third installment of one of the giants of gaming. Is it pure speculation to say that this game is causing delays or early releases of most other games?
Maybe. Halo is Microsofts flagship franchise since the XboX. The game is to XboX what RPG is to Playstation, and MMO is to PC. In the wake of Halo 3, sales are going to be lost. Great games like Mass Effect, The Darkness, Blue Dragon, and scores of others, are looking at either shipping before September, or post September 25th. Age of Conan, the MMO which seems set up to, quite possibly, dethrone World of Warcraft, from it’s long reign as king of the MMO genre, is looking at a August Release date, with it’s 360 counterpart coming much later.
While non of these simple facts add up to “Halo 3 in Sept. Did it”, they do all seem to point to producers and publishers taking a step back to look at the ramifications of direct competition with Halo. One in which, I, as most sane people will reason, is more than likely a loseing battle.
