Who is your favorite lawyer?
Well mine is certainly not Jack Thompsson. And after this he is even more on my ./ignore list than he ever was. You maybe heard of Spencer Halpin’s upcoming hullabaioo documentary film Moral Kombat. The film that takes on videogames violency and blames that videogames caused the 9/11 incident.
Jack Thompson is widely known of his crusade against video gaming and this documentary film where he is under the spotlight, will surely give him a new kick for his crusade as well as a lot of negtive publicity from the gaming community.
Well the film features Jack Thompson and is even predicting ten times of worse school massacre.
From IGN: “Andonicos Kalogerou is a man devoted to science and the war against superstition. From his office in the historic centre of Athens, he has worked diligently for more than 5 years, travelling all over Greece and revealing the paranormal for what it truly is: drunken fantasies and uneducated hysteria. But his intelligible, safe little world is going to come crushing down when a call from Pheve, his adopted sister and fervent advocate of the mythic, informs him that his step-father is not only missing, but presumed dead as well.
With a heavy heart, Andronicos travels to the place of his childhood, high atop the Greek mountains, to bury an empty coffin and reunite with his quarrelsome step-sister. Little does he know that each step irrevocably brings him and Pheve closer to what Destiny has in store for them. For the death of their stepfather heralds the beginning of the greatest struggle between good and evil with the prize being nothing less than the very future of this world”.
Webzen has just revealed a new orchestra video showing the people behind the music of Huxley, the upcoming Unreal Engine 3 based MMO first person shooter for Xbox 360 and PC set in a post-apocalyptic world where humans and mutants are at war. It also shows the types of armor you can get and some new gameplay.
Variety reports that a man stuck between heaven and hell will come to the movies across the world … soon. Oh yes I am talking about the First Person shooter Painkiller that is latest to get the Hollywood make-over. C’mon guys stop doing movies of games …it doesn’t work and if it does its so rare that its not wort it …
The game is being brought to the movies by the team behind up coming Eddie Murphy film Starship Dave, written by Mystery Science Theatre 3000 scribe Bill Corbett and some other guy.
Why a Painkiller flick? After movie producer Jon Berg (Elf) saw the title on a 60 Minutes segment last year about competitive gaming (the one with fatal1ty), he decided to pursue the film rights.
The Painkiller adaptation will be penned new comer Ben McGaw let’s hope he doesn’t set his eyes at Uwe boll when it comes to directing the movie …
Gamestar spoke to Timothy Olyphant and director Xavier Gens about their big screen adaptation of the popular video game Hitman.
I like Timothy as an actor. but I think Jason Statham would suit better for agent 47 (I said that before there were even plans to shoot this film :p) Olyphant looks a bit like a dude with cancer when he’s bald :p I still think it’s going to be an good movie..
Yes, Rest in Peace, he is an Assassin! Ultimate” fan? That’s a bold statement to make while supporting a movie that makes 47 look like Rambo. What the hell? They just turned Agent 47 into a comic hero. Strike down evil? He strikes down anyone with a dollar sign above his head!
If you haven’t seen it yet, the trailer for the “Hitman” movie, which has sparked a lot interest among gamers who yearn for good video game-inspired films.
I am not such a huge fan of games turning into movies, even if I really Liked Silent Hill and doom. And watching this trailer from Hitman the Movie makes me wonder why people can’t just let the games rest in peace and not turn them in to bloody movies…Its bad enough that we turn every movie into another poor game. Actually I am also not really found of Timothy Olyphant into role of Agent 47. Somehow I don’t like the fact that they turned Agent 47 into a comic hero.
They say Agent 47 strikes down evil, nut that’s not really true is it? I mean from what I know Agent strikes down anyone and anything with a dollar sign above hit’s head!
Anyway Gamestar spoke to Timothy Olyphant and director Xavier Gens about their big screen adaptation of the popular video game “Hitman.”:
“
“When I read the script I didn’t immediately think of a game. It reminded me more of the John Woo films, or of Luc Besson’s “The Professional” or the Korean “Bittersweet Life,” said Olyphant.
Inspired by Asian action movies, Gens added that violence will be the main focus of the movie.
“I gave the Hitman a dirty image. In the game, Hitman is an asshole, I wanted to keep that in the movie. It’s about an evil man fighting against other evil men,” Gens said. “I wanted really true and dirty violence - from splashing blood to broken arms.” “
Anyone else think that’s its sad that they made Agent 47 look like Rambo. …
Very well, at least we don’t have Uwe Ball making the movie …so there must be a God somewhere … Click here to read more about “Hitman.” And the rest of Gamestars Interview …
Since I am a huge fan of the Movie ‘300’ I am happy to announce that according to Gamasutra, Blizzard is working very closely with Legendary Pictures, with the developing of the World of Warcraft Movie.
And Legendary Pictures chairman and 300 producer Thomas Tull discussed (during his keynote at the Hollywood & Games summit,) his company’s upcoming film adaptation of the mega-popular World of Warcraft. You got to love that …
“We’re doing World of Warcraft, and making it into a movie,” said Tull, but noted, “I have very strong feelings — from the movie side — that making movies based on games just because they sold well is a really bad idea. There’ve been some like that that weren’t up to snuff just out of the gate.”
He continued, “It doesn’t matter to us if it’s based on a graphic novel like [Frank Miller's] 300, or a TV show – if there’s a great universe and story, that’s what’s interesting to us.”
Speaking about the relative size of a game adaptation’s potential audience, he noted, “Sure, there are 8 million people playing WoW, but even if all of those people saw the movie multiple times, we’d still be screwed.”
I have one word for you about this movie, weither you are a World of warcraft fan or not, it’s going to be awesome.
