MTV Starts Virtual World

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

MTV, formerly known as a music video channel, has announced German and Asian partnerships with 10Tacle Studios to create a virtual world.
The “music” network already has substantial proof of concept in this space, having successfully brought two of its properties - Virtual Laguna Beach and Virtual Hills - to the There.com platform.
Does this signal a move away from the Makena Technology company?

From the release:

” Starting in 2008, the multi-user 3D online world will give Internet users access to, among other things, the classic content offered by the MTV Group, while offering a large number of online games. 10TACLE STUDIOS AG, Europe’s largest developer and producer of high-end computer and video games, will handle the technical implementation and operation of the multi-user 3D online world. MTV, whose popular content is available on all platforms relevant to its target groups, such as TV, online, broadband and mobile, will be responsible for target group communication and the editorial preparation of the content. “

Most (ub)dangerous games for kid´s

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Anybody can put together a list of games that parents shouldn’t buy their young children for Christmas. Well, excuse me not everybody, I told you a few days ago about the top Prosecutor Kym Worthy’s list of outdated NONO-games!
Honestly the most dangerous thing with that list is not that your kid becomes violent, it’s more likely that you bore him/her to death with games like killer 7 and Manhunt1.

Anyway, this may sound a bit better; this is a list of highly recommended kid’s games. Games you should buy according to Game Life >>

Oldies are buying more computer games

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

Thank God, now I can justify my gaming obsession. Computer games are the must have gift for thirty-somethings this Christmas, according to a survey by battery manufacturer Energizer.

Just under a third (30 per cent) of 16 -24 year olds would choose a games console compared to nearly half of 25–34 year olds (42 per cent). The poll shows computer games are now more popular than ever with older generations.

Starcraft 2 Beta Soon?

Friday, November 9th, 2007

A comment by a Blizzard representative, who is rarely seen posting on the World of Warcraft forums, has sparked excitement upon fans.

“Enoyls” stated he is a regular forum poster mostly when games such as Starcraft 2 are close to release, or during the closed beta stage of new games in development by Blizzard Entertainment.

Enoyls: Yes, I’m pretty active during betas on the forums. During Starcraft, War3 and WOW I was pretty active gathering feedback, informing people about changes and explaining new features and philsophy. I don’t post on the WOW forums much anymore because Tigole and Kalgan are now the lead designers on WOW. While I’m involved with all the games here at Blizzard, I’m focus the most on the games closest to release like Starcraft 2.

Fans were left pondering if his presence and comment were omen of a Starcraft 2 beta announcement not too far in the future.

With retailer breaking the BioShock street date, some lucky bastards have picked up the game, you got to hate them, sure you do … and just to tempt you a little more here is a video showing a glitch in the BioShock demo that lets players jump through glass and walk underwater.
I’m going to have to go try this. …

The game will be in stores the 21th of August …it’s less than a week guys so patience …

And here is what 2K Australia Ken Levine says about the game:

First of all, it’s really one of those games where you’ll want to save often — not because you die constantly, but because you’re going to want to replay rooms to try things a different way.

Games don’t make people kill …

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

“Manhunt made my son a killer”, says a mother in a recent article published by Newsoftheworld.com. I don’t like manhunt_02.jpgNewsoftheworld and I think it’s terribly wrong to blame games for such horrible acts as murder. I am sad to hear a mother desperately searching for something to blame instead of accepting the fact that her son did something horrible because he was mentally ill.

I write about this article for one reason … I believe that it’s very important that gamers are able to talk about the downsides of gaming. If we don’t, we are as bad as the guys who throw dirt on the world of computer games. There are downsides, such as addiction for example where kids plays to much and so on … of course there are ..but you also have to think of how many of the hundreds of thousands of players that plays on a regular basis that don’t get addicted.
