MMO nutcase creates guild by himself

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

You think you are a nutcase when it comes to MMO gaming?
At Gaminggadgets there is some pictures of how, one gamer (and his girlfriend) decided to take on the responsibilities of an entire World of Warcraft guild themselves.

untitled-1.jpg

“Gaze upon the 47 PC setup that allows two gamers to simultaneously control 23 independent accounts each.

This technological monstrosity was constructed in waves, consisting first of Shuttle systems, followed by QPack and later AOpen small form factor PCs. To cut back on heat and the massive electric bill, most machines are diskless (i.e. no hard drive) and aren’t connected directly to monitors. Instead, programmable keyboards with KVM switches allow the duo to monitor and control everything from their six-monitor twin thrones. “

The Next-gen Lap-top!

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

Since I am a hardware geek, I can’t resist showing this little beauty for you. She is called “Compenion” and is a sleek concept laptop designed by Felix Schmidberger.

The Compenion has a futuristic look with an OLED touch screen, (that serves as both monitor and keyboard) and you can tap away by hand or use the “senstylus” pen to control it.

I don’t know about the gaming, but I certainly know that my own lap-top has been trough a lot and if this little beauty contains the right hardware. Its a must in every gamers home …

The Ring Finger Mouse …

Monday, June 11th, 2007

OMG, this is a real cool gaming gadget …or not, well it’s cool …but for gaming …nah, I doubt it. Anyway this little beauty was spotted at COMPUTEX 2007. It’s called a Ring Finger Mouse and should be placed on your finger closest to your thumb.
fingermouse1.jpg
You rotate the mouse over so that your thumb has access to the track stick and the mouse buttons. You have a right click, left click, and another button that looks like it helps center the cursor in the middle of the screen.
The product is currently applying for FCC approval so whenever that gets finished, you should see it on the shelves.

Maybe this is something for the Mrs.?

Review: Qpad XT-R

Friday, June 8th, 2007

Actually, I’ve never been a fan of hard surface pads. I’ve been in love with my soft cloth pad for long and thought “I will never change it …” and even though QPAD is known to produce logo_qpad.jpgsome of the best mouse pads on the market, not even their own “hard tops” could made me change my mind, not until now. I had one look at Qpads XT-R pad and I am in love …

Introduction:

Qpad has been the benchmark of cloth surfaces forever, but now they have reworked their old cloth pads and ventured into a whole new world. So I put my old cloth pad aside and open the white box to discover a real beauty .
The mouse pad which is subject of this review is named QPAD X-TR and when I put it under my mouse and start to play Counter-strike. I feel like as if I am on cloud nine. The level of friction and the precision in First-person-shooter games are perfect and I can’t believe I thought I’d never wanted something like this before.

Appearance

The pad arrived in a white metal case. The inside of the case is made of gray foam and the first impression is “OMG, she’s a beauty …”
ask.jpgask2.jpg
It’s a black pad with a Q in smooth gray printed on it and a smaller white Q at the lower left corner. Qpad also included some new skates in the package but who needs it? This pad is to good to be true and my gaming mouse is exactly where I want it to be when I need it.

Qpad XT-R, like other pads from Qpad, is an XXL size pad, but I find it a little to small. But that’s just a personal opinion. Anyway, the new surface is very smooth, four millimeters thick and rather heavy. It rests on eight small feet made of rubber so it will not move while you play. QPad XT-R is made in an arched design, and has a new hard plastic coating and it also has a white Q written in rubber at the bottom.

ovan.jpg
The arched design makes it feel like I get a larger useable surface and better comfort while playing, since the shape of the pad follows the movement of my hand. And who doesn’t want to feel comfortable while making his opponents suffer from precise headshots?

Playability
I have never seen a mouse glide so smoothly! The precision is really extreme whether you play Counter-strike, Warcraft or Quake. Although the pad is smaller than the other models in the series, the XT-R instead it has perfect glide and precision. The first impression is that the mouse just smoothly glides down the pad and, just like a perfect mouse pad should feel like. This is something I didn’t believe existed…this is gaming heaven…and yes, this is a headshots for-the-win pad.
under.jpg
The pad is textured with a slightly rigid surface, but it’s only slight and I really like it. I’ve tried it with three different gaming mice, and found that it is compatible with everyone. And one other good thing is that it doesn’t really matter if you are a fan of low or high sensitivity play…this surface fits all!

Conclusion
Mouse pads are a matter of personal opinion, and my opinion is that this mouse pad is one of the best and versatile on the market.

Qpad’s XT-R is extremely accurate, and has a cool and innovative design. Personally I think this new graphic, with the stylish Q in smooth grey is very beautiful. The pad just catches you’re eyes and you’re drawn to it like a fish to the lure.

The best part is that once you’ve tried it …you will never let it go… This pad fits every gamer, no matter if you are an First person shooter –gamer or just want a new cool design. The only thing that’s keeping it from the highest grade is that it’s a bit too small. It’s a tiny detail and it might even be unnoticed by you, but its there. Overall this is a great mouse pad that you certainly must have if you want to do serious damage with your BFG …
