Starcraft 2 Beta Soon?

Friday, November 9th, 2007

A comment by a Blizzard representative, who is rarely seen posting on the World of Warcraft forums, has sparked excitement upon fans.

“Enoyls” stated he is a regular forum poster mostly when games such as Starcraft 2 are close to release, or during the closed beta stage of new games in development by Blizzard Entertainment.

Enoyls: Yes, I’m pretty active during betas on the forums. During Starcraft, War3 and WOW I was pretty active gathering feedback, informing people about changes and explaining new features and philsophy. I don’t post on the WOW forums much anymore because Tigole and Kalgan are now the lead designers on WOW. While I’m involved with all the games here at Blizzard, I’m focus the most on the games closest to release like Starcraft 2.

Fans were left pondering if his presence and comment were omen of a Starcraft 2 beta announcement not too far in the future.

SecuROM kills Hellgate players …sort of

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

hellgate-wtf-thumb-400×177.jpg

One of the writers at Aeropause installed his brand new copy of Hellgate: London, only to be greeted by the SecuROM message telling him of an Original Disc error.

nce again, copy protection hurts the legal user and not the pirate.

“Well, I went against my better judgment. I accepted the EULA. I laughed in the face of draconian copy protection schemes.

And they laughed right back at me.

I suspect that, like Joe and I discussed on the Aeropodcast, this is most likely due to having “virtual drive” software on my machine. Despite the fact that I use it for legitimate means, such as beta-testing development software, EA and Flagship have decided that I cannot play their game.”

Quake Wars beta next week

Monday, June 18th, 2007

Next week we finally get or hands on the public enemy Quake Wars beta. I can’t wait, is this the game that will kick Battlefields 2’s as?

Anyway, last week Activision revealed that they are going to launch a Public Beta with 60,000 slots available. The Public Beta build will consist of a single map named “Sewer”, which is part of ETQW’s Pacific Campaign.

Set in Japan, the map revolves around a Strogg base hidden in, well, a sewer. It’s an interesting mix of outdoor and indoor, vehicle and infantry combat, deployable and counter-deployable and good old-fashioned FPS combat.

A fixed number of beta slots are being set aside for Fileplanet subscribers, so if you already have a FilePlanet subscription, you’re in the front of the queue. The rest of the slots will then go to those with free FilePlanet accounts.
At the moment there is no official start date for the beta, next week is the word spread, so keep an eye out here and I will tell you as soon as I know. Meanwhile, get yourself a free fileplanet account here

Including the official start date, in the near future. Hope to see you all online very soon! Meanwhile look at this First Beta Footage from the game.
