Fallout 3 captured on screen

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Finnish magazine Pelaaja grabbed a few scans of the game
Fallout 3, in progress and what can you say other than God damn it’s Fallout it must be good especially since Bethesda is the name behind the game.
fallout-3-scan-25555.jpg

These scans look great and will probably satisfy the rabid part of the fans for a while.
fallout-3-scan-3.jpg
The scans confirm Bethesda’s previous confirmation of using a modified Oblivion engine and keeping the 1st and 3rd person perspective for RPG narrative. The Ps3fanboys will be updating with more scans and screen shots as they come in.

Fallout 3 is scheduled for release in fall of 2008 and comes for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Obscure 2 screens and trailer

As you probably know by now I am a huge horror fan … therefore I must show this new video from Hydravision Entertainment’s Obscure 2.

As you probably figured out by now Obscure II is a sequel to well Obscure … but the fun thing is that the game takes place two years after the events of the first game with the survivors gone to college and having to fight for their lives once again.

The game will be published in September 2007 and here’s what it look like right now.

First trailer from Rise of the Argonauts

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Guys …it’s Friday and I give you the first trailer of Codemasters upcoming gladiatorial adventure. Damn … Liquid Entertainment has made a huge scale action-RPG and it is scheduled to launch in 2008 for Games for Windows and major console platforms.

With deep exploration and epic quests, players will take the role of Jason, King of Iolchis, and battle alongside iconic mythological heroes including Hercules, Achilles, Atalanta and other well known mythological figures.

As Jason grows from young king to true legend, set sail aboard the Argo and explore the vast Aegean – a dynamic world of islands filled with shining cities, lush jungles and deep forests.

Gamers will leave their mark on ancient Greece as they engage in heart-pumping, lethal, blood-spurting combat against hordes of enemy warriors, ruthless beasts and truly formidable mythological creatures.

I really fell in Love with Kratos in God of War. I taught nothing could beet that game so I can only pray that this game will give me what I need too. But this video looks nice …doesn’t it?

Azerothians, tonight we died in hell …

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

Since I am a huge fan of the Movie ‘300’ I am happy to announce that according to Gamasutra, Blizzard is working very closely with Legendary Pictures, with the developing of the World of Warcraft Movie.

azeroth.jpg

And Legendary Pictures chairman and 300 producer Thomas Tull discussed (during his keynote at the Hollywood & Games summit,) his company’s upcoming film adaptation of the mega-popular World of Warcraft. You got to love that …

“We’re doing World of Warcraft, and making it into a movie,” said Tull, but noted, “I have very strong feelings — from the movie side — that making movies based on games just because they sold well is a really bad idea. There’ve been some like that that weren’t up to snuff just out of the gate.”

He continued, “It doesn’t matter to us if it’s based on a graphic novel like [Frank Miller's] 300, or a TV show – if there’s a great universe and story, that’s what’s interesting to us.”

Speaking about the relative size of a game adaptation’s potential audience, he noted, “Sure, there are 8 million people playing WoW, but even if all of those people saw the movie multiple times, we’d still be screwed.”

I have one word for you about this movie, weither you are a World of warcraft fan or not, it’s going to be awesome.

You know, in the July issue of Official Xbox360 Magazine, there is an article about, a costume design studio described as a “cosplay commune. To show their appreciation for Epic’s Gears of War, they built Delta Squad, complete with full suits of armor and Lancers. And to top it off, they took a road trip to Epic’s studio to surprise Cliffy B and the team. gears1.jpg

Game over for Take2?

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

At gamedaily, James Brightman writes about the controversy of Takes2’s (and Rockstars) upcoming Manhunt.

manhunt-pc_scr1.jpg
After the game was banned from sales in England and Ireland, a very controversial desicion bound to create a significant reaction and possibly even a re-write of certain laws, Take2 has decided to put the game on hold for the time being.

I always think that the violence in games should be motivated. What I am saying is that it should be in defense of scary monsters, to free a hostage, for hunting or something like that. No things like pee on somebody’s ripped off head as in Postal and not like hitting some old lady with a bat.

Even though you can’t accuse Rockstar for making bad games, some of the violence might be a bit over the top. And despite the fact that I actually hit a few … (my fiancé will probably say a lot …) old women with my bat in Rockstars GTA. Grand Theft Auto is a really good game, and most of the violence is motivated …I think.

But the entire mainstream media has latched on to the Grand Theft Auto franchise as the symbol of video game violence, and games such as Manhunt and Bully have made waves as well. Now Manhunt 2’s is the latest target. The game was banned in England in Ireland and its AO rating by the ESRB in the US gave Take2 little choice but to put the game on hold.

manhunt-2.jpg

Following Take2’s confirmation that the title has been “temporarily suspended,” the company’s shares dipped on Friday, but is this the end of the Take2 era? Well, according to the analysts that Gamedaily.biz spoke with it might be so. “It does seem that Take-Two is being a little bit unfairly singled out … because of their history of provocative games,” Nollenberger Capital Partners analyst Todd Greenwald commented. “They’re being burned by their past.”

The word spoken now is that Manhunt 2 will be refit and have a later release with new and not so violent content. I don’t know if that will solve the situation but and its hard to tell whether the publicity helps or hurts, but my guess is that it helps … at least I hope so. Government regulation of intellectual property is not something I would like to see, and it’s very strange that computer games are treated differently from other entertainment media on this issue. Personaly I never liked Manhunt, mostly due to the sadistic nature of the game, but that doesn’t mean I want a big brother looking over my shoulder telling me what I can or cannot play.
